Spring Fairs And Festivals

St Patricks DayShare This Experience With a Friend

If you can’t make the trip to Ireland, visit two of Georgia’s cities in March, Savannah and Dublin, for their annual St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. Savannah’s River Street, famous for their Irish pubs and flowing green beer provides a rendition to remember.  Please note: The 184th St. Patrick’s Day Celebration will be held on Friday, March 14, 2008 instead of the nationally recognized date of March 17.

Dublin’s annual celebration is a perfect fit given its authentic Irish name.  Enjoy the traditional corned beef and cabbage or stand along the parade route as bag pipers serenade the crowds.  Special entertainment and street fairs make Dublin’s St. Patrick’s Festival a must see.

Redneck GamesShare This Experience With a Friend

The Summer Redneck Games started in East Dublin as a laughable spoof of the 1996 Summer Olympic Games and have grown into a national phenomenon.

The Summer Redneck Games take place in July and feature side-splitting entertainment like Redneck Idol, Battle of the Bands in Redneck Land, Bobbin’ for Pig’s Feet, Redneck Toilet Seat Horseshoes, and a crowd favorite, the Mud Pit Belly Flop.

Another great South Georgia festival is the Annual Rattlesnake Roundup which takes place in March in Claxton. Enjoy parades, art, crafts, good food and learn how to avoid and treat snake bites. Plus, you won’t want to miss the live snake milking.
